I have been in Melbourne this weekend visiting the Digital Life Expo. This is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest photographic imaging exhibition and there is no doubt that the photographic and associated products and business’s are moving faster than ever before and the large crowds were an indication that digital photography is here bigger and better than ever.
The large technology changes appear to be in printing and compact camera’s this year. The other area that is growing is the number of photobook manufacturers and their products and these are worth considering if a more traditional album is out of your reach. The photobook manufacturers range from budget to a very high quality using a range of materials that should last for a lifetime.
Most photobook suppliers will arrange a design for you or you can design your own by downloading their software or using other software or applications that are available. The advantage of getting a professional photographer to design your photobook is that they usually have a far greater range of book sizes and materials as well as their skills available to them to be used in the book manufacture in contrast to a DIY where the these are often limited. It is quite a complex process to get everything right such as colour management but if you wish to do it yourself then you can.
Here is a list of some of the photobook manufacturers that I visited, check them out.
